Tipp’s Cross Country Teams Compete at Alliance Invite

With the varsity boys cross country team taking the weekend off to rest, the attention was focused on Tipp’s other talented cross country teams. The girls varsity, boys junior varsity, boys junior high, and girls junior high teams all ran exceptionally well in the very muddy and humid conditions at the Alliance Invitational on Saturday, September 13th. With the sloppy course conditions, times were probably around 30 seconds slower than usual in the high school races and about 15 seconds slower in the junior high races.
The boys junior high team continued their undefeated season by beating an 18 team field. They scored a total of 44 points, 10 points ahead of Central Watts (Centerville). The boys team is considered by many to be the best junior high team in the state of Ohio in all divisions. Last week was a statement meet when they won the DI-DII race at the Tiffin Carnival, beating 47 other teams in the process. Sam Wharton won the race individually by just 1 second with a time of 11:32, Ricky Andrews finished 3rd overall with a time of 11:50, Nick Noone finished 8th overall with a time of 12:19, Tyler Prentice finished 15th overall with a time of 12:29, Grant Koch finished 17th with a time of 12:32, Michael Landwehr finished 25th with a time of 12:29, and Jay Schairbaum finished 27th with a time of 12:51. 220 runners competed in the race.
